Mississippi Gulf Coast Women’s Golf Association General Membership Meeting – December 4, 2007
President Janice Preble called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m.
A motion was made and carried to dispense with the reading of the September 13 minutes.
The Treasurer’s report indicated $309.14 left in the GCWGA account and 186 members in 2007.
Committee Reports
Julie Hudson provided a handout with a breakdown of the Championship expenses and year-end awards indicating $1,841.40 was used from dues.
Old Business
President Janice Preble thanked the Board and Delegates for working together to improve the association. She noted the accomplishments made such as: Clubs serving coffee and breakfast foods again, if possible, on play days Allowing players to join the association any time during the year Permitting nine hole golfers to join the association if their 18 hole handicap is 34 or less Getting coverage of association events in the newspaper.
New Business
President Janice Preble introduced a letter from the Tournament Chairman of the Keesler Ladies Golf Association requesting reinstatement into GCWGA because the Bay Breeze Golf Course is now available after recovering from Katrina. A motion was made and carried unanimously to reinstate the Keesler Ladies Golf Association into GCWGA.
President Janice Preble also introduced a letter from Barbara Ramsey and Theresa Malbrough suggesting GCWGA invite members of the Louisiana Northshore Women’s Golf Association (NWGA) to join the Mississippi GCWGA on regular play days. Their intent is to promote an interest in golf, good fellowship, friendly competition, hopes of being invited to play with NWGA, meet new ladies, and have fun playing golf at different courses. After some discussion, delegates were asked to poll their club’s GCWGA members to determine if this is something the majority would like to try. The matter was deferred to the January delegates meeting.
It was announced that Mississippi National and Gulf Hills are increasing the play day fee to $25.00.
Election results followed. Delegates voted 11-0 in favor of the new slate of officers: Carol Conover, President; Julie Hudson, Vice President; Debbie Seidel, Secretary; and Elaine Willins, Treasurer.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Conover Secretary |
